1. How do UnitedHealthcare and UnitedHealthcare Specialty Benefits work together?

The companies of UnitedHealth Group work together to provide comprehensive group and voluntary benefit solutions to meet the diverse needs of the marketplace. Consolidation of these products within UnitedHealth Group results in higher efficiency, reduced administrative requirements, and one point of contact for the employer.

2. What products do you offer?

We offer group benefit and voluntary solutions including medical and ancillary benefits such as life, disability, dental, vision, EAP, and medical stop loss insurance; and, through strategic partnerships, we provide leave management and worksite products. In addition, UnitedHealth Group is one of the few companies in the marketplace with the vast clinical resources to address the challenge of integrating medical and disability management. UnitedHealth Group has expertise in health and disability coverage, disability claims management, consumer care resources, behavioral health management and other physical and mental health services—all under one umbrella. Together, we can manage health care delivery and minimize work absences, resulting in improved health outcomes, reduced costs and greater employee access to needed services.

3. What are your AM Best, Moody's, Fitch and S&P ratings?

We have provided ratings from Standard & Poor's, Moody's, and Fitch rating services for UnitedHealth Group. Ratings for UnitedHealth Group provide the most appropriate basis for measuring the financial strength of UnitedHealth Group and its individual entities:

   * Standard & Poor's – A
   * Fitch – A

   *Ratings unchanged since December 31, 1998.

4. How do I become licensed?

Please submit an agent/agency agreement, appointment forms, and license information as required by applicable federal and state laws and UHC policy.  If you are applying for an agency appointment, state requirements mandate that each agency appointed by an insurer must have all writing agents soliciting UHC business appointed as well. At the very least, the agency’s request for appointment must be accompanied by the application of one writing agent who is licensed and appointed for each state in which business is conducted. To start the process, please complete the Agreement Form and return to your local office. Please see the instructions for assistance in filling out the Agreement form.

5. Do you offer an Individual Critical Illness product?

Yes.  We offer Individual Critical Illness insurance, which is a health insurance supplement designed for the voluntary benefits market. It pays a lump-sum benefit upon the first occurrence and diagnosis by a physician that the insured has a covered critical illness.

6. Do you offer multi-state DMOs and DMO/DPPO hybrid plans?

We do not offer multi-state DMOs and DMO/DPPO hybrid plans because our DHMO and Direct Comp plans are available in a limited number of states at this time.
